Letter from Nikolaj Nantscheff, dated January 28, 2002

I am pleased to confirm that I have authorized you to act as my agent with regard to the sale of the „Nantscheff Collection“. As listed in the appendix hereto, the Collection consists of the following instruments: 6 Stradivari violins, 2 Guarneri del Gesù violins and one viola by Gasparo da Salo, as well as their bows; total value approx. US$ 40 million.

In accordance with your request, I shall transfer the agreed commission of 6% of the total amount, i. e., US$ 2.400.000,00, to your account after the conclusion of the sales contract.

As far as any subsequent commissions to third parties are concerned, the sole responsibility will be yours; your obligation to indemnify me against any claims in this respect is part of our agreement.
