Construction of a Violin

The craftsmanship and skills necessary to make a violin have been passed down through generations of makers since before the days of Amati and Stradivari.

The tools of a violin maker are many because of the different parts that a violin maker carves by hand.
While the pattern and dimensions of a violin have been passed down through generations of makers, it takes the skill of an experienced maker to determine correct thicknesses for the different types of wood and the variations of hardness since every cut from a tree is unique.
